The entire crew is either sitting sitting or sleeping on deck, and there isn't a bloody thing the bos'n can do about it, because he's lashed himself to the starboard channels to do some foot-dipping. And the Bos'n's Mate is keepin' him company (har har, but these people *are* sailors, after all!).
